„Młodzi pisarze” to pokolenie pisarzy debiutujących w latach 80. i 90. XX wieku, wyznaczające cezurę w historii literatury włoskiej: postmodernistyczny renesans pisarski. Jako dzieci swojej epoki, tworzą literaturę Baumanowskich „kolekcjonerów wrażeń”, spektakle zmysłów, cielesne inscenizacje. W ich prozie wybrzmiewa wyraźnie zdominowany przez słuch kontakt z rzeczywistością – oralność, dźwięk świata. Kryzys potęgi wzroku? Manipulując wizerunkami ciał, obnażając jego słabości, uwikłanie w dyskursy, uprzedmiotowienie, „młodzi pisarze” dotykają pulsujących kulturowo-filozoficznych kwestii współczesności: niewiarygodność doświadczenia wzroku, kruchość logocentryzmu, kryzys antropocentryzmu, świat w typie trans.

The book entitled Ucho, oko, dało. O prozie „młodych pisarzy" lat osiemdziesiątych i dziewięćdziesiątych we Włoszech [The Ear, Eye and Body. On the Prose of "Young Writers" of the 1980s and 1990s in Italy] deals with the literature created by Italian writers who debuted at the end of the 20th century. Using the theory of human sight-centeredness's crisis as a starting point, these writers' numerous novels and stories are analyzed in order to present the shift of focus towards the sense of hearing, that is, the voice and orality in literature as well as the renewal of the other senses. Italo Calvino's prose provides inspiration for conceptualizing and reflecting on the meanings and functions of the sensorium. The second part of the book develops analytical reflections on bodily expressions and representations. The body appears to be grotesquely, artificially and disgustingly deformed and sick, while carrying topical as well as metaphorical meanings. It also manifests itself as a body whose gendered-determined status becomes deconstructed.
