Pierwsza książka na temat polskiej literatury widzianej w kontekście nowoczesnej kultury obecności. Problematyka kultury obecności sformułowana została już na gruncie nauki o literaturze (H.U. Gumbrecht), estetyki (K.H. Bohrer) i filozofii (M. Seel), ale ku jej badaniu zmierza także wiele innych propozycji teoretycznych wykorzystywanych i wypracowywanych w tomie. Pozwala to na przedstawienie w nowym świetle twórczości polskich pisarzy i pisarek uznanych za kanonicznych od dawna (S. Brzozowski, CZ. Miłosz), niedawna (Z. Haupt, A. Świrszczyńska) i dopiero odnajdujących swoje miejsce w kanonie (S. Zahorska, A. Falkiewicz). Jak się okazuje, literatura polska widziana w kontekście nowoczesnej kultury obecności ma szczególnie wiele ciekawego i własnego do powiedzenia.

This book analyzes Polish literature of the 20* century in reference to studies on the topic of presence in literature as developed by, for example, Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, Martin Seel and Karl Heinz Bohrer. According to the author, the new research issues indicated by these scholars turn out to manifest a much broader methodological and theoretical transformation of today's humanities, which take up the issue of the contemporary culture of presence in many ways. The book makes use of different theoretica proposals while describing Polish literature of the 20* century, which seems to be a particularly interesting and independently developed kind of the modem culture of presence. The analyses of Stanisław Brzozowski's, Czeslaw Milosz's, several immigration writers' as well as Anna Świrszczyńska's, Andrzej Falkiewicz's and others' literary works make it possible to show the constant up-to-dateness of the topic of presence which is related to their subjective, community-oriented, esthetic and philosophical
projects.
