Monografia z pogranicza nauk o edukacji i kulturze stanowi analizę teoretyczną o charakterze rekonstrukcyjnym. Autorka przedstawia tezę, że edukacja może być narzędziem zmiany społecznej – analiza przeszłości i konsekwencji wydarzeń historycznych może pomóc wypracować metody, które zapobiegną masowej społecznej destrukcji. Kategorie pamięci, tożsamości i edukacji pojawiające się w tytule pracy potraktowane zostały jako słowa kluczowe narracji kolejnych rozdziałów. Pojęcia te są podstawowe w odniesieniu do badań związanych z relacją pedagogiki do kulturowych reprezentacji holocaustu. W pracy wykorzystano metodę badań w strategii jakościowej, gdzie badaną rzeczywistość stanowiły wybrane teksty naukowe, popularnonaukowe i literackie, będące podstawą analizy treści o problematyce związanej z aspektami reprezentacji dyskursów holocaustu.

The main research problem addressed in this book is the question about the form of pedagogy after Holocaust and the concepts of Holocaust education. The purpose of this monograph is to present the issue of social perception of cultural representations of the Holocaust in historical and cultural memory as well as in individual and collective memory as an alternative to a historical perspective which is commonly employed in teaching about the Holocaust The author proposes situating the pedagogical discourse on the Holocaust within the context of a debate on authoritarian education as well as of postcolonial and intercultural education, which creates an opportunity to abandon the hierarchy of tragic events in the history of genocide. Assuming that identity is a basic concept of postcolonial research, the author presents the social processes of constructing identities based on the example of Jewish identity. The research material was analyzed and interpreted by using critical pedagogy as well as sociological and sociocultural theories.
