Praca charakteryzuje obchody rocznicowe oraz nabożeństwa żałobne (i związane z nimi eksportacje zwłok) w Wielkopolsce w okresie 1815-1914. Uroczystości potraktowano jako widowiska kulturowe („performans”) i przedstawiono kształtowanie schematu narodowych jubileuszy, rozszerzanie kręgu ich organizatorów, zróżnicowany skład społeczny uczestników i masowość imprez. Podkreślono znaczenie narodowych obchodów dla tworzenia społecznych więzi, podtrzymywania tradycji i utrwalania tożsamości narodowej. Autorka zwróciła uwagę na widowiskowość w przestrzeni świeckiej i sakralnej, omówiła oracje funeralne oraz dominujące wówczas formy wizualnej prezentacji (żywe i świetlane obrazy). Obserwacja aktu komunikacji, szczególnie procesu odbioru, pozwoliła poznać warunki powstawania communitas i spojrzeć na omawiane zjawiska jako na formy przejawiania się dramatu społecznego.

The author characterises anniversary celebrations and funeral services in Great Poland between 1815 and 1914. These celebrations are treated as cultural spectacles which created “a performance”. The author presented a formation of a model of national jubilees, enlargement of the circle of organisers, a differentiated social structure and the large scale of the events. Also the significance of national celebrations for the formation of social bonds, for preserving traditions, and first of all for strengthening of national identity. Attention was also paid to the showiness in the secular and sacral space; solemn funeral prayers and visual presentation prevalent in those times (live and bright pictures) are discussed in more detail. Observation of the act of communication, especially of the process of reception, allowed the author to learn about conditions of the creation of communitas and to look at the phenomena discussed as forms of manifestation of a social drama.
