Praca stanowi pionierskie w polskim literaturoznawstwie slawistycznym opracowanie artystycznego motywu obecnego w pokrewnym nam słowiańskim piśmiennictwie, nie będąc zarazem przedsięwzięciem czysto filologicznym. Autor podejmuje trudne zadanie wyróżnienia sensów kluczowych dla duchowej formacji homo mediterraneus, a teksty chorwackie (zwłaszcza pisarzy pochodzących z Dalmacji) ilustrują szczególnie dobitnie cechy jej zbiorowej świadomości, wywoływane przez figurę literacką wiatru i opisywane także w perspektywie etnosemantyki kulturowej.

Wiatr w literaturze chorwackiej [Wind in Croatian Literature] is an attempt at "capturing" the phenomenon of wind which, as a subject, appears to be symptomatic for the Mediterranean (Adriatic) literature and culture. It belongs to the regional cultural ethnosemantics which is untranslatable into the language of the Continent, being a vehicle of the aesthetic, psychological and philosophical problems in the text. The author analysed changes in the semantics and stylistics of the literary figure of wind which occurred in the Croatian writings of the Mediterranean zone in the 19th and 20th centuries under the influence of transformations of an aesthetic and world-view nature which took place in the art in the successive literary periods. It appears that wind in the literary text not only appears as a metaphor, a symbol, an element generally subjected to some other, superior component of a work of literature. It also happens to be the theme, a topos, a spatial model which is a driving force of the text, a factor which makes possible its coherent interpretation.
