The book The question of the subject in the literary theory in France after 1968 tries to present the debate around the subject in the literary work since the proclamation of its death in the 1960s until its restoration or the reconfiguration in the 1980s and 1990s. The book is preceded by the introductory chapter where is presented the specificity of the French reflection on the subject, its various approaches and the intellectual and historical context of the debate (structuralism, phenomenology, psychoanalysis, Marxism) which ended in the radical criticism of the subject in the 1960s. The following chapters examine attitudes towards the subject in the literary text that take the French philosophers and the theorists of the literature and the philosophers after 1968. Four chapters of the book are dedicated to Roland Barthes, Michel Foucault, Julia Kristeva and Paul Ricceur; the last one examines the subject shared between the metaphor and the narrative.
