This is a multiple-author monograph which consists of 26 articles that were prepared by educators and psychologists who reflected on the difficult situation of children in the contemporary, postmodern world. The postmodern picture of the world, including the image of the child and childhood, is connected with the multiplicity of various, contrasting forms of childhood. This is because various phenomena have been occurring in this world - on the one hand, poverty, social impoverishment, the divorce rate and number of Euro-orphans are growing, while on the other hand, people are pursuing their careers and constantly aiming to achieve success and striving for perfection. These situations make it questionable whether children's psychological, health-related and material needs are being met. This monograph is divided into three parts. The first part outlines the difficulties that the contemporary family has to cope with in life, the second part deals with various forms of supporting children and their development, and the third part focuses on the contemporary child's loneliness in modern society, which is a very thorny problem.
