Tom sytuuje się w przestrzeni refleksji charakterystycznej dla slawistyki i komparatystyki, gdyż granice pomiędzy tymi dyscyplinami zacierają się. Źródła zbliżenia slawistyki i komparatystyki tkwią przede wszystkim w pragmatyzmie metodologicznym i perspektywie interdyscyplinarnej, realizujących dzieło humanistyki zaangażowanej. Zebrane w tej publikacji studia i opracowania dotyczą przede wszystkim południowej Słowiańszczyzny i większość tekstów traktuje o relacjach europejsko-południowo-słowiańskich, a także o różnych problemach dotyczących głównie kanonu kulturowego, literackiego i językowego. Refleksje slawistyczna i komparatystyczna uwikłane są na tym gruncie w sposób nieunikniony w kwestie konfliktowych pól aktywności kulturowej.

The volume Południowosłowiańskie sąsiedztwo. Slawistyka i komparatystyka dzisiaj [South-SIavic Neighbourhood. Slavonic Studies Today] is situated in the area of reflection characteristic of Slavonic studies and comparative studies since the borders between these disciplines are obliterated and the sources of coming close to one another most of all are to be found in methodological pragmatism and in interdisciplinary perspective. Slavonic studies and comparative studies perform revisions of traditional scientific discourses because these disciplines together with the whole humanities enter the area of the philosophy of culture as a discipline of interdisciplinary studies, offering the study of paradigms which connect literature with other discourses of culture. This publication concerns most of all the southern Slavs’ territories, thus studies are prevailing in the field of European-South Slavic relations and South Slavic issues, mainly the cultural, literary and language canon.
