Celem książki jest zintegrowanie klasyfikacji aspektowych w dziedzinie aspektologii i przetestowanie proponowanego modelu na przykładzie czasowników mentalnych w języku angielskim i polskim. Autorka proponuje Zintegrowany Model Aspektu, w którym bazuje na rozróżnieniach postulowanych przez Comrie’go (1976), Langacker’a (1987, 1991), Croft’a (2012) i Jandę (2015), i który opiera się na mechanizmach konceptualnych używanych przy konstruowaniu procesów reprezentowanych przez czasowniki. Autorka testuje zastosowanie modelu na czasowniku mentalnym „think” w języku angielskim wraz z pochodnymi czasownikami frazowymi, oraz na polskim czasowniku „myśleć” i jego formach prefiksowych. Po szczegółowej analizie przeprowadzonej dla poszczególnych języków, dokonuje zestawienia otrzymanych danych jakościowych i  wyróżnia obszary wspólne w dynamice aspektologicznej.

This book aims to systematise aspectual distinctions made in aspectology in general, but in English and Polish in particular, and offers an Integrated Model of Aspect as the tool which can be used in the comparison of the two languages in aspectual terms. The model depicts a potential that the two languages have at their disposal to represent the internal structure of an event. Applicability of the model is tested on the example of mental predicates. For this purpose, the English mental predicate think and its phrasal verb forms are scrutinised. In Polish, ‘myśleć’, the counterpart of ‘think’, is analysed together with its prefixed forms. The aspectual distinctions made for the two verbs are then compared in order to identify areas in which the two languages converge.
