Monografia naukowa poświęcona jednemu z kluczowych zagadnień slawistyki - genezie starosłowiańskich alfabetów. Zawiera rekonstrukcję pierwotnej głagolicy i cyrylicy, opartą na szczegółowej analizie i świeżej interpretacji materiału źródłowego. Autor i przedstawił w niej nowe rozwiązanie problemu, który przez ponad dwa stulecia pozostawał nie wyjaśniony. Książka może być przydatna w dydaktyce. Będą z niej mogli korzystać studenci filologii słowiańskiej, rosyjskiej, polonistyki, językoznawstwa, historii oraz innych kierunków, interesujący się kulturą duchową Słowian.

The work presents in great detail the process of genesis of the oldest Slavonic alphabets. The reconstruction comprises the system basis, graphic basis and the name set of letters. Making an attempt to reconstruct a possibly complete and objective picture of the earliest history of the Slavonic writing system, the author assumes the principle that all observations and conclusions should be based to the greatest extent on the critical analysis of sources, and that in the search of a solution to a definite problem one should not go beyond facts, thus avoiding their unfounded interpretation. Views, hypotheses and results of research of those who contributed most to the progress in this field have been considered at great length. In this work the present author gave a new, comprehensive interpretation of the genesis of the Slavonic writing system.
