Young people who live in liquid modernity, which is based on constant change, and who must perform developmental tasks of adolescence and struggle with the difficulties of being in an "in-between state", i.e. between childhood and adulthood as well as between conflicting tendencies that are inherent in the sense of being lost in the maze of numerous duties, considerably influence the evaluation of current sociocultural processes because they createthese changes and at the same time are affected by them. It is therefore worthwhile to raise the subject of the situation of contemporary young people whose voice, which is sometimes unheard, is a fundamental part of the discourse on their participation in the existing sociocultural reality. This study is aimed to present the image of today's youth from the perspective of young people by defining certain aspects of their situation. A multi-contextual analysis of the image of the young generation which is seen as agent of change focuses on the sense of identity, normative orientations, young people's evaluation of their generation as well as their views and opinions on a society that is oriented toward a global change. It turned out to be difficult to determine what the self-portrait of the youth of today is. However, the analysis also revealed that today's young people have many resources to meet the challenge of existing in
the ever changing socio-cultural reality. The results of the research indicate that young people are looking for their chance to develop in the existing socio-cultural conditions. They describe themselves as the creators of their own fate as well as reality. In order to exist in these conditions, young people must be oriented toward development, activity and strength and have faith in the power of the individual. Young people truly represent this attitude, which is evidenced by the results of this empirical study.
