Monografia poświęcona literaturze staroserbskiej, będąca próbą przedstawienia hagiograficznej sceny śmierci w dwu podstawowych i charakterystycznych dla średniowiecza typach, tj. śmierci zrytualizowanej i męczeńskiej. Szeroka perspektywa ogólnokulturowa pracy pomaga zrozumieć mechanizmy z pogranicza religii, filozofii, mentalności itp., które człowieka wieków średnich popychały do uczynienia ze śmierci problemu nadrzędnego.

This book presents two basic literary and atistic projections of the scene of death which are characteristic of the Middle Ages. On examples of the Slavic writings by scribes the author shows the canonical, i.e. ritual image of dying together with the accompanying motifs and the opposte image of martyr death. Also, through general Christian perspective, the author emphasises and indicates the specificity of particular cultures and literatures of the Orthodox Slavs - Serbs, Bulgarians and Russians.
