W książce zawarto prace dotyczące problematyki politycznych kontekstów i uwikłań edukacji zarówno w zakresie systemowym, jak i kontekstowo-sytuacyjnym, dające wieloaspektowy i metodologicznie zróżnicowany ogląd podejmowanych kwestii. Ten krytyczny przegląd zagadnień obejmuje trzy powiązane ze sobą kręgi tematyczne: 1) pytania o perspektywę i wyobraźnię polityczną jako warunek twórczego kształtowania idei edukacyjnych, 2) odniesienia do politycznych uwikłań edukacji w systemach totalitarnych/autorytarnych – pozwalające wychwycić i uwypuklić deficyty współczesnych konceptów edukacyjnych, 3) aktualne kwestie związane  z emancypacyjną funkcją edukacji i podmiotowością w procesach edukacyjnych.

The entanglement of education with politics – in particular with states’ policies or political systems, or in a broader sense, with the organizers of education – is unavoidable for obvious reasons. This entanglement is dynamic, i.e. it is constantly defined anew in changing civilizational and cultural – and therefore also political – contexts. This is why there is a need for multifaceted reflection and discussion on the meaning and consequences of this entanglement, especially its possible negative consequences in the form of assigning educated people and social groups to particular positions, places and activities in accordance with dominant ideologies and their structures. This book deals with three thematic issues that partially intersect: questions about a political perspective as well as imagination, which is a condition for the creative development of educational
ideas; references to the political entanglements of education in totalitarian/authoritarian systems, which allow one to capture and highlight the shortcomings of modern educational concepts; and current issues that are related to education’s emancipatory function as well as subjectivity in educational processes.
