In 1975 Social Sciences Faculty was established as a new structural element dealing with social research within Adam Mickiewicz University. This 24th volume of the journal is a complimentary section connected with the 25th volume dedicated to celebrate 30th anniversary of Faculty's functioning. In both 24th and 25th volumes we are trying to emphasize the importance of role modeling performed by faculty members. What connects 'both volumes is a certain type of thinking about science. 24th volume is especially dedicated to one of the most important issues related to social research and its presence in cultural reality: to the ethic aspects of conducting research. Basic problem analyzed here is connected with the question: Should social research be controlled and regulated, not only by applicable to the science cognitive norms and methodological rules, but also by specific ethic norms. Moreover: The 24th volume should those ethic norms concern: the subject of the research, research methods etc? If this is the case, are such ethic norms related to specificity of social research as such? Another issue examined here is a question: Is it possible to follow in the process of constructing scientific knowledge, both: epistemological rules and ethic values at the same time? Another question to be addressed: do more "human" (closely related to moral and ethic values) social sciences, still deserve to be called science?
