This volume contains commentaries to eight encyclicals of Pope John Paul II. These commentaries were presented during open meetings in the Adam Mickiewicz University hall in 2005 and 2006. The task of commenting these encyclicals was undertaken by professors of the Faculty of Theology, Adam Mickiewicz University. The commentaries gave a lot of satisfaction to the audience and offered material for reflection. Undoubtedly, the philosophical ideas contained in John Paul II's encyclicals are an enormous intellectual challenge from which inspiration will be drawn for a long time both in science and in social and everyday life.
