Praca omawia recepcję Dantego, szczególnie Boskiej Komedii przez czterech polskich romantyków: Mickiewicza, Słowackiego, Krasińskiego i Norwida oraz los czterech postaci u Dantego: Wirgilusza i Beatrycze oraz Ugolina i Franceskę da Rimini w dziełach oraz motyw dantejskiego piekła, który jest często przenoszony na ziemię. Osobna część książki zajmuje się analizą fragmentarycznych tłumaczeń tego średniowiecznego dzieła przez Mickiewicza i Norwida i jest próbą interpretacji wiersza Mickiewicza Śniła mi się zima w kontekście dantejskim.

This study discusses the reception of Dante, particularly of The Divine Comedy by four Polish Romantic poets: Mickiewicz, Slowacki, Krasinski and Norwid and the fate of four Dantean characters: Virgil and Beatrice and Ugolino and Francesca da Rimini in their works as well as the motif of the Dantean inferno, which is often transferred onto the earth. A separate part of the book deals with the analysis of fragmentary translations of this mediaeval masterpiece by Mickiewicz and Norwid and is an attempt at interpretation of Mickiewicz's poem Snita sib zima (I Dreamed of Winter) within the Dantean context.
