Pierwsza w Polsce monografia poświęcona laureatowi literackiej Nagrody Nobla z roku 1979, który w swej twórczości łączył inspiracje płynące z literatury zachodnioeuropejskiej (głównie z surrealizmu) z bogactwem macierzystej greckiej tradycji literackiej, mitologii i historii. Książkę uzupełnia: antologia poezji Elitisa w przekładzie autora oraz fotografie z prywatnego archiwum poety.

This is the first monograph written in Polish, devoted to the person and work of Odysseus Elytis, a Greek poet and laureate of the 1979 Nobel Prize for Literature. He combined Western surrealism witki Greek nature, the lyrical element with the epic one, history with art, physical world with the psychic world. The author performed and original interpretation and novel analysis of the structure of Elytis' poems and translated twenty one of his verses which have been appended at the end of the book in the form of a short anthology.
