The aim of this monograph is to presents the results of the most recent musicological research into the work and musical activity of the German composer, conductor and teacher Joseph Ignatz Schnabel (1767–1831). The work consists of a historical, analytical and critical approach. The main content is supplemented by annexes, containing, among others, the latest thematic catalog of Schnabel's works and a calendar of the composer's life. Schnabel's musical style was discussed in a comprehensive and synthetic way for the first time in the monograph; interpretations of his works were also made in the light of the norms used in Liturgical Music at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
