With "Experimental Organic Chemistry" you will discover, understand and learn to like organic chemistry.
This book presents a new approach to experimental organic chemistry for beginners. Its aim is to illustrate all the lecture material typical of a basic organic chemistry course with experiments, to teach students how to synthesize and describe organic compounds, and to present typical laboratory techniques. Preparations are grouped according to the types of organic reaction, and each chapter contains a brief theoretical introduction. Transformation maps and synthetic sequences illustrate the connections between the preparations and allow the reader to systematise their knowledge of organic chemistry, as well as to see the beauty of organic synthesis, in which the synthetic goal can be achieved by various routes. The book contains a description of typical laboratory techniques, containing practical guidance for students, and also presents and describes a selection of the most important databases necessary for the organic chemist. Moreover, the degree of difficulty and the time taken to produce each preparation is indicated, for the convenience of the laboratory supervisor and the student.
